Longer waiting times at security
During the busiest periods, there may be longer waiting times at security. We recommend arriving at the airport two hours before departure for flights within the Schengen area and three hours before departure for flights outside the Schengen area.

Copenhagen Airport working with authorities following regulatory order on security screening

On 6 October, Copenhagen Airport received a regulatory order from the Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority. The order took effect on 8 October and resulted in additional measures being introduced at the airport’s security checkpoints.

Aviation safety is always the airport’s highest priority. It is, and always has been, safe to fly from Copenhagen Airport. We work closely with the Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority and welcome the authorities proactively identifying matters that help maintain a consistently high level of safety. This enables us to adjust the airport’s security procedures in a timely manner.

The regulatory order resulted in additional measures at security screening, which have made the screening process take longer. As a result, more staff have been required at the security checkpoints.

On the vast majority of days, staffing levels were sufficient to prevent long waiting times at security.

Unfortunately, there were a few days when the airport underestimated the staffing required. This resulted in queues. On 8, 22 and 23 October, there were periods of long waiting times. In addition, queues and waiting times of up to an hour occurred early in the morning on Saturday, 24 October.

This resulted in a poor experience for passengers at the airport. This is, of course, not satisfactory, and we are very sorry that passengers had this experience.
